‘Potta’ is an electric kettle made from terracotta. The approach was to ’use new things in an old way’. The designer created it while researching the history of materials and functions of the kettle.
Terracotta was a useful material as a tool for cooking in ancient time because it is superior as a thermal material. Recently the whistle kettle slowly went out of use due to the developing electric kettle. The sound that an electric kettle makes when finished boiling is a soft sound and it’s easy for the user to forget that the water has finished boiling. ‘Potta’ still has this function, which has proven useful before.
